DIATRIBES:
Diatribes, ensemble farouchement libertaire, voit le jour dans les sous-sols genevois en hiver 2004. L’idée était de mélanger des sources et des approches sonores distinctes et de développer une masse malléable. Les instruments se confondant avec les traitements de leur propre son, dans une danse primaire, brute, où construction et destruction coexistent, où envie et dégoût s’unissent. Aucune restriction n'est posée dans le jeu, où rythmes, mélodies et bruits se côtoient sporadiquement, s'imbriquant jusqu'à se faire oublier. Free jazz dans la démarche, acoustique, électronique, la formation se veut capable d'explorer l'infime comme l'intense.
Initialement un trio avec Gaël Riondel au saxophone, diatribes est devenu une formation polymorphe, étirant son spectre en intégrant des musiciens invités à chaque concerts tel le guitariste Christian Graf , l’électroacousticien Nicolas Sordet, les pianistes Jacques Demierre et Johann Bourquenez, le contrebassiste Dragos Tara ou le saxophoniste Piero SK.

JACQUES DEMIERRE:
Jacques Demierre (1954), pianiste, performeur et compositeur, son travail musical et sonore se développe dans diverses directions: musique improvisée, musique contemporaine, poésie sonore, installation sonore.
Ses compositions et réalisations sonores questionnent essentiellement l’écoute et l’espace sonore. Il collabore avec de nombreux musiciens improvisateurs - Barre Philips, Urs Leimgruber, Thomas Lehn, Martial Solal, Radu Malfatti, Joëlle Léandre, Axel Dörner, Fritz hauser, Sainkho Namtchylak, Urs Blöchlinger, Irene Schweizer, Hans Koch, Isabelle Duthoit, Brandon Labelle, Jason Kahn, Butch Morris, Carlos Zingaro, Gunter Müller, Jaap Blonk, Barry Guy, Lucas Niggli, Sylvie Courvoisier, Hann Bennink, Rhodri Davis, Martin Schütz, Paul Lovens, Dorothea Schürch, Phil Minton, … Il donne régulièrement des concerts de piano solo et est actif avec Vincent Barras dans le champ de la performance et de la poésie sonore.
„Le travail de Jacques Demierre dépasse l’articulation de premier degré entre musique et poésie. Improvisation au piano seul [...], travail sur la musique de la langue et dans la langue : plus n’est besoin de confrontation. Chaque medium reconnaît, assume, réfléchit ses limites et trouve dans cette réflexion l’instrument de son dépassement.“ (Ph.L.)

JOHANN BOURQUENEZ:
Johann Bourquenez est né à Besançon le 11 Janvier 1976. Il étudie d'abord le violon de 5 à 10 ans, puis se tourne vers le piano. Interessé par le jazz, il suit deux ans de cours privés avec le pianiste Jean-Yves Perron, ainsi qu'un an de cours d'harmonie classique et de musicologie au conservatoire. Il s'installe à Toulouse en 1997, et étudie pendant deux ans à Music-Halle (école de musique vivantes), avec entres autres le pianiste Denis Badault et le saxophoniste Abdu Salim. Il commence alors à jouer dans de nombreuses formations jazz comme le NUDE jazz quartet et le quintet de Thomas Gouband. De plus il est impliqué dans plusieurs projets mélant jazz et musiques électroniques comme Interface, Ground EXP et Minimal Orchestra, avec lequels il jouera un peu partout en France et en Espagne.
Son interêt pour les musiques électroniques le conduira à jouer egalement au piano électrique Fender-Rhodes, et plusieurs autres intruments électroniques comme le synthétiseurs analogique SH101. Il a aussi composé et produit de la musique pour de nombreux projets, du quartet à cordes (Juan Chic Quartet, Zaragossa) aux performances mix-media (entropie, I-Shot-Kaliayev, Keplerslaws).
En 2003 Johann Bourquenez commence à jouer avec le saxophoniste ténor Eric Pailhé, sous le nom de Tlön 5. Le premier enregistrement du duo, intitulé “The Fissback Voyage”, est le resultat de plusieurs séries de concerts d'improvisations et d'une session de studio, et défini un nouvel espace d'expression musicale. En cherchant comment diffuser cet album, ils décident de ne pas suivre la tradition de la production discographique mais de le distribuer gratuitement sur internet. Ce qui les ammenera à créer leur propre netlabel, eDogm.
“The Fissback Voyage” et sa méthode de diffusion rencontrent alors un certain succès, et suscitent plusieurs articles et interviews dans la presse specialisée. Le netlabel eDogm sortira ensuite plusieurs autres albums et compilations. Pendant l'été 2005 le duo Tlön 5 se tourne vers des concerts d'improvisation libre, sans répertoire et sans équipement electronique. Seulement un piano et un saxophone pour exprimer l'intensité du moment qui passe.
Johann Bourquenez se consacre actuellement à son trio post-jazz PLAISTOW avec Cyil Bondi et Raphael Ortis.

Diatribes,a strongly libertarian ensemble, began its existence in a Geneva basement in Winter 2004. Their idea was to mix distinct various types and approach of the sounds, in order to develop a malleable musical mass. The instruments merge into the electronics treatments in a primary dance, where construction and deconstruction coexist, and envy and disgust unite. There are no limits in teh way of playing, where rhythms, melodies and noise meet sporadically, merging into each other until they are almost forgotten. Free jazz in its approach, acoustic and electronic in its execution, the trio is capable of exploring the minute like the intense.

Jacques Demierre (1954), pianist, performer and composer, his musical and sound work develops itself in various directions : improvised music, contemporary music, sound poetry, sound installation. His compositions and sound realisations are concerned with the activity of listening and with sound space. He collaborates with many improvising musicians - Barre Philips, Urs Leimgruber, Thomas Lehn, Martial Solal, Radu Malfatti, Joëlle Léandre, Axel Dörner, Fritz hauser, Sainkho Namtchylak, Urs Blöchlinger, Irene Schweizer, Hans Koch, Isabelle Duthoit, Brandon Labelle, Jason Kahn, Butch Morris, Carlos Zingaro, Gunter Müller, Jaap Blonk, Barry Guy, Lucas Niggli, Sylvie Courvoisier, Hann Bennink, Rhodri Davis, Martin Schütz, Paul Lovens, Dorothea Schürch, Phil Minton, … He regularly plays solo piano concerts, and works with Vincent Barras in the field of performance and language art. “Jacques Demierre’s work exceeds the first degree articulation between music and poetry. Solo improvisation at the piano, work on the music of language and in the language: no need of confrontation. JOHANN BOURQUENEZ:
Johann Bourquenez was born in Besançon, France on January 11th 1976. He first studied violin at the conservatory of music between the ages of 5 and 10, and later graduated in piano with distinction. Following one year in classical harmony and musicology at the conservatory and two years of private lessons with pianist Jean-Yves Perron, Johann's interest in jazz was consuming. In 1997 he went to Toulouse, France and studied for two years at the "Music-Halle" jazz school with well-known French jazz pianist Denis Badault and American saxist Abdu Salim, amongst others. It was during this period that he began to play with several jazz bands including the NUDE jazz quartet and Thomas Gouband quintet. Moreover he became involved in various projects combining jazz and electronic music in groups such as, Interface, Ground Exp. and the Minimal Orchestra, which took him to various regions throughout France and Spain. His interest for electronic music led him to play not only the piano but also the electric piano Fender Rhodes, and various other electronic devices such as the analog synthetizer SH101. He also composed and produced music for several projects ranging from classical string quartets (Juan Chic Quartet, Zaragossa) to computer-based music and mix-media performances (entropie, I-Shot-Kaliayev, Keplerslaws). In 2004 Johann Bourquenez began to play with tenor saxist Eric Pailhé, under the name of Tlön 5. The band's first recording could be best described as an evolution in the bands style. Titled "The Fissback Voyage" it was the result of a series of improvised jazz and electronic concerts with various guests. Looking for a way to release this album, they decided not to follow the tradition of producing a CD but to distribute the music for free as an mp3 on the internet. This concept of distribution had been used a lot in the electronic music area, but not so much for jazz inspired productions. This led them to found their own netlabel, eDogm. "The Fissback Voyage" album and its mode of release proved successful and brought several specialized press reviews and interviews. The eDogm netlabel has also moved forward and released several other albums and compilations. Searching for new forms of expression, during summer 2005 the Tlön 5 duet turned into free improvisation concerts with no set list and no electronic devices; only a piano and saxophone assist them in expressing the intensity of the moment. Johann Bourquenez is currently residing in Geneva, Switzerland, and works on his post-jazz trio PLAISTOW with Cyil Bondi and Raphael Ortis
